December and the festive season

We are almost at the last month of the year and getting ready for December and the festive season.  We have so many wonderful things to help you celebrate. Our gold baskets is just the total bling needed be bright and sparkly. We are super excited to be back at the Wahroonga Village fair this year and will have a few treats on offer for our lovely clients.

Big News

It is with an equal measure of excitement and sadness that we announce that next year we are moving to France.  We are following our hearts and are fulfilling a long held dream to live permanently in France and our gorgeous little home @la_grange__drome. We will also be much closer to our son in the UK.

We have been busy with 2 duck trading for over 16 years – which has lead to the most amazing friendships, exciting travels and wonderful connections with our stockists, suppliers and customers. Running a small business is the most varied work, that truly means that no two days are the same. While we won’t miss waiting for containers of baskets, or getting up early for markets,  we will miss the warm and special relationships we have made with all of our customers. We have been so grateful for your support of 2 duck and our wonderful baskets.  
For now we are still selling all our current stock until March when we will  say adieu to Australia and bonjour to France.  We still do love our baskets and will look at ways we can operate in France. Stay tuned.

Markets

  Carriageworks Farmer Markets –   In December find us on Saturday 2nd December and then again at the Christmas market extravaganza on the 23rd December.   Carriageworks Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 8am to  1pm. We will be back in January on the 20th.

 

 EQ markets-    For December we will be at the market only on Saturday 16th December.  This will be our last market at EQ after 19 years so do come and see us for the last time.   We will have our full range of baskets, St James tops, linens and more. The market is from 8am to 2pm.

Dates for December

Bastille Market: Paris to Manly Xmas market:  Saturday 2nd December  St Paul’s College Manly,  from 3-8pm. French food, shopping,  a few bubbles what more could we want!

Wahroonga Village Fair : Sunday 3rd December,  In the Wahroonga Village in our usual spot.  Event is from 9am to 4pm. We are in the same spot on Railway Ave. We will have a few sale baskets and some French vintage  sheets on sale too.

Double Bay Christmas Fair:  Saturday 9th December Guilfoyle Park  from 10.00am to 2pm.  A new boutique Christmas market with lots of Xmas fun for all.

September at 2 duck

Welcoming Spring

September, what a perfect time to return to Australia and be back in Sydney.  Spring is just around the corner and it is the right time to head out to the markets, pick up a new basket and get ready for the warmer weather.  We are also glad to be missing the latest heatwave in France too. 40 degrees in our village this week.

September always bring a few spring fairs and we will be back at Shore school American Tea mid September.  See below for markets and events.

Early September is also has father’s day, and whilst most people might think that baskets are only for woman – mothers actually we think baskets are for all! Our basket of the month is makes a great present for Dad.

Markets

  Carriageworks Farmer Markets –  find us in September   – Saturdays  2nd, 16th and 30th.  Carriageworks Farmers Market  is open every Saturday from 8am to  1pm and we are there the first and third Saturday.

Cambridge markets EQ  We are back to the markets  two Saturday a month. Find us on  9th and 23rd September under the market canopy area near the flower at the Entertainment Quarter.  We will have our full range of baskets, St James tops, linens and more. The market is from 8am to 2pm.

Le Marche – Willoughby   For the month of September we are there on the 10th and 24th.   We will have all our favourite baskets, St James tops and great table linens and a few of our French vintage linens finds from our time in France.

Shore American Tea

Friday 8th September  8am to 2pm, at Shore School North Sydney, find us on the Chapel lawn.

September at 2 duck

Yippee September means Spring and hopefully some beautiful warm and sunny basket weather.  Please find our full update on September for 2 duck trading co.

We are delighted that our new baskets will be here any day now, so we can celebrate the beginning of Spring.  It is always a joy when we have new stock and styles available for you.  We also have lots of events and special markets coming up this month too.  Plenty of places to find us and get a basket, raffia hat or a St James top.

Markets

 

  Carriageworks Farmer Markets –  We have changed our days at the market and will be coming to Carriageworks every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.  For September find us only Saturday 17th September with all our new baskets. We are also away 1st Oct back on the 15th October.

We are attending Cambridge market EQ every Saturday. In September/ Oct  there a few exceptions due to events and family matters. Our dates are  17th and 24th September.  We will also be away the 1st and 8th October.  Find us there for baskets, St James tops, great saucisson, French linens, hats and more.  Our range of  long awaited St James tee shirts has been expanding (finally) so do pop and see us for the perfect trans seasonal tops.

 

Le Marche – Willoughby  this month we will be at Le Marche  Sunday 11th and 25th September. Visit us for baskets, St James tops, French pates and foie gras,  French linens and French fun.

Events

Saturday 3rd Sept –  Bastille market Saint Paul’s College Manly  10-3pm. Postponed due to weather in July  this full French experience is going ahead this Saturday. Fingers crossed for the weather again!

April

Incredible that we are almost at Easter and Autumn has well and truly arrived. Sadly, our most favourite Easter market the Burrawang Village Fair had to be cancelled due to the heavy rains making the roads and parking area in the village unusable. We had been so looking forward to this event.  On the very bright side for us, at 2 duck, we will shortly be off  to France and our little house for a much anticipated reunion.

We are away for an extended period and will be back early July.  We hope our new shipment of baskets won’t be too much after us in August. Follow our instagram or facebook page for tidbits of our travels. We have a full unpack of the house after the renovations and mountains of indoors and outdoor jobs to do.

Our online store will be operating while we are away, but we won’t be able to process wholesale orders.

 We are at Carriageworks Farmer Markets Saturday 9th July. To celebrate our trip to France we are having another warehouse sale. There will be great reductions on all baskets.  We will return to the market 23rd July.

Le Marche – Willoughby will be our last market until July will be on Sunday 10th April.   We return Sunday 10th July just in time to celebrate Bastille day and the Fête Nationale.

Marching along!

March is almost upon us! Our most unusual summer is drawing to a close and we are heading into  Autumn and harvest times.  Our basket of the month is perfect for those great trips to the market.

We have a few special events coming up in March and then look forward to heading to Burrawang for the famous Easter market in April. What a joy it will be to be back at that great event.

 We are at Carriageworks Farmer markets every  2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.  For March this will be Saturdays 12th and 26th. The farmers market is on from 8am to 1pm every Saturday. Watch out for a few specials each Saturday as we clear our imperfect stock.

Le Marche – Willoughby is on  every 2nd and 4th Sunday at Laurelbank House in Willoughby.  For the month of  March – 13th and 27th. A Day of Beautiful Things

2 duck trading will be joining A Day of Beautiful Things on:

Thursday 3rd March in Rose Bay at the Easts Rugby Club Rooms O’Sullivan Road from 10.00 – 4pm

Thursday 10th March in Lane Cove at Lane Cove Golf Club, 180 River Road. from 10.00 – 4pm.

This is a special shopping day with a mix of:

CAPES, PASHMINA SHAWLS, Cashmere gowns, STYLISH HANDBAGS, ONE OF A KIND JEWELLERY,  CREATIVE HOMEWARES, IRONING BOARD COVERS, FRENCH MARKET BASKETS & TABLE LINENS and raffia hats.

Up and coming:

Sadly canceled due to the  weather conditions damaging the parking facilities and roads in the village.
Burrawang Easter Fair Saturday 16th April, Burrawang Village.   Fingers crossed for 2023.

Easter and April here we come!

The Easter break is upon us and so is the school holidays.  We are going to take a few days to do some road tripping into Victoria and hope to pop into some of our Victorian stockists on the way. The office will be closed from Tuesday 6th to Monday 12th April. All online orders will be posted when we return to the office on 12 April.

Baskets of the Month

Our reed baskets are a fun family of 3 baskets. Small, medium and large basket, all sold individually. The baskets are woven out of naturally occurring reed to make a more rigid style of basket. March Autumn update

Here is our March update.  Autumn has arrived and this year is well underway!!

At this stage most of the major events that we would normally do, are not proceeding. Sadly for us there is no Burrawang market on Easter Saturday this year. Luckily our weekly markets continue to be going very well as shopper embrace the markets again.  We really hope that we see you at one of the markets some time soon.

Vive la France! It’s July.

 

 

So many events in Sydney to celebrate the National Day of France!  We call it Bastille Day in Australia, but in France it’s the 14th July. What ever it is called we get to celebrate all things French!! Find us at these great events!

Bastille Market Australia

 

First up in the Bastille Market Australia Sunday 7th at Club Willoughby from 9am to 2pm – a real celebration of everything French with excellent food, entertainment, French shopping and much more!

Le French Rose Bay market

For a 2 day celebration of everything French in Rose Bay at the Pannerong Reserve on 13/14 July from 9am to 5pm. Food, entertainment, music, shopping and more..

Bastille Day La Perouse Sydney

Come and celebrate Bastille Day, the French National Day with historical re-enactments, food and drink stalls, live entertainment and fun activities for the whole family being held at the La Perouse Museum and grounds. At La Perouse on 14th July from 9.30-2pm.

May

Wishing every one a very happy first of May! A day to wish happiness to all.  The tradition is to bring a lovely little bouquet to your nearest and dearest. It’s one of our favourite French traditions.

We are also getting ready to celebrate Mother’s Day and the place of Mothers in our lives. Whilst our great baskets are not the only for woman, they do make up the largest part of our client base. A basket is just the most perfect accessory in every womens life. From our classic baskets, round and rectangle baskets  to the blings we have got you covered.

Cambridge market is putting on a super special Mother’s Day event which we are delighted to be part of – there will Golden ticket giveaways and lots of  extra fun.

 

 We attend Carriageworks market the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. Bringing baskets and full range of sustainable bags to the market. In May it is  Saturdays 11th and 25th, from 8am to 1pm.

 For May we will be at Northside on Saturday 18th from 8am to 12 midday.

 

 Join us at Taren Point school  Sunday 5th May to celebrate all things French with their now annual French school market. Food, wine, shopping, cheese, bread and so much more to share. from 9am to 3pm. This is a school fundraising event so come and enjoy.

November at 2 duck.

Apologies for a late market update! We have been busy and not in the office enough! As we hurtle toward the end of the year there will lots of opportunities to find us in a suburb near you! Yesterday we had a brilliant time at the French market at Killarney Heights primary school.

The Bad News – at this stage we do not have an arrival time for our new shipment. We have been struck by on going production delays and a transport strike this year, which has slowed everything down. We will keep you posted as soon as we know something. Probably later in December at this stage.

In the mean time we still do have stock of lots of great baskets so do pop over to the My Shop page and see what takes your fancy.

 

Basket of the Month

One of our favourites – the buckle basket with leather trim and long comfy handles. A classic basket with the addition of a buckle for additional security and long (70cms)  thick leather handles that swing easily onto the shoulder for easy trips to the beach or the market.

 

Markets for November

 Cambridge Market EQ is on in the Showring at the Entertainment Quarter. We are there every Wednesday and Saturday 8am to 2pm.

 2 duck trading co will be Carriageworks Farmers Market Saturday 10th and 24th November from 8am to 1pm.  For baskets and sustainable bags only. Some sale baskets as we clear space for the new stock for whenever it will arrive.

 

  You can find us the 3rd Saturday of the month – 17th November from 8am to midday with all our baskets, linens and sustainable bags.

Popped Up at Kimo Estate – Shopping day Gundagai 22nd November 10 – 3pm. Raising money for Cystic Fibrosis.
