Marching along!

March is almost upon us! Our most unusual summer is drawing to a close and we are heading into  Autumn and harvest times.  Our basket of the month is perfect for those great trips to the market.

We have a few special events coming up in March and then look forward to heading to Burrawang for the famous Easter market in April. What a joy it will be to be back at that great event.

Baskets of the Month

 This is the most enduring classic style in our range. The short handle leather trim basket! Seen all the markets in France. This is a perfect market shopper. An excellent size to fill with produce, a baguette or two and of course some flowers. Wholesales

We have almost finalised our new collection for Spring/ Summer 22 and we expect to have new container of baskets mid year. Markets

 We are at Carriageworks Farmer markets every  2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.  For March this will be Saturdays 12th and 26th. The farmers market is on from 8am to 1pm every Saturday. Watch out for a few specials each Saturday as we clear our imperfect stock.

Find us every Saturday under the brand new market canopy at Cambridge Markets EQ from 8am to 2pm.

 

Le Marche – Willoughby is on  every 2nd and 4th Sunday at Laurelbank House in Willoughby.  For the month of  March – 13th and 27th. Come and see us for  all our French treats, baskets and our great collection of St James stripy tops. With the Autumnal weather come the long sleeve Minquier modern tops are perfect.

 

Special events for March

A Day of Beautiful Things

2 duck trading will be joining A Day of Beautiful Things on:

Thursday 3rd March in Rose Bay at the Easts Rugby Club Rooms O’Sullivan Road from 10.00 – 4pm

Thursday 10th March in Lane Cove at Lane Cove Golf Club, 180 River Road. from 10.00 – 4pm.

This is a special shopping day with a mix of:

CAPES, PASHMINA SHAWLS, Cashmere gowns, STYLISH HANDBAGS, ONE OF A KIND JEWELLERY,  CREATIVE HOMEWARES, IRONING BOARD COVERS, FRENCH MARKET BASKETS & TABLE LINENS and raffia hats.

Up and coming:

Sadly canceled due to the  weather conditions damaging the parking facilities and roads in the village.
Burrawang Easter Fair Saturday 16th April, Burrawang Village.   Fingers crossed for 2023.

December!

We welcome December, the cherry season and so much that is festive in our lives!   It is a true joy that we have got to this time of the year and we are have been so busy with markets, onlines and wholesales.

There  are still many great events and shopping opportunities to be had in December this year for your festive shopping.  Also from today until December 13th – all baskets ordered online will be sent EXPRESS to make sure they make it in time.

Baskets of the Month

Our adorable open weave baskets are just so fun and make the best little hamper baskets.  Available in three sizes – you can see them over on our shop page.  Hand woven from the fibre from large palm trees near the desert in Marrakech,  these baskets are in the beautiful blond coloured palm leaf.  They have a short real leather handle, stand well for use around the house or great as a basket filled with seasonal gifts. June wintery days are here

 

Who can believe that June is almost upon us, winter and nearly half of this crazy year in our lives. I can’t!  But the one thing I know about the middle of the year is the preparation to celebrate all things French. There are so many lovely French focused events on the horizon. So pop a few dates into your diary! Ours are below.

 

Stock update:  You may notice a few of our favourite baskets out of stock. The happy news is that our next shipment is just about to hit the high seas. The tricky part, is the totally unknown time it will take to get here. So once again we are crossing our fingers and hoping all goes smoothly. The life of an importer eh!!  Still have lots of great baskets left. Check out our basket of the month.

Our jute covered baskets always have a wintery vibe for me – rustic, the classic shape, perfect for winter markets, with such a natural look.  This basket has the same hand woven nature of our other baskets with the addition of the jute covering. Mother’s Day in May

Mother’s day is almost upon us and we just love to celebrate this most important day (even though every day should be Mother’s Day)

To cement the deal we are offering  FREE UPGRADES TO EXPRESS shipping from 28th April to 6th May as well!  At our markets we will be ready for Mother’s day and will be celebrating on the actual day at Le Marche-Willoughby.

Easter and April here we come!

The Easter break is upon us and so is the school holidays.  We are going to take a few days to do some road tripping into Victoria and hope to pop into some of our Victorian stockists on the way. The office will be closed from Tuesday 6th to Monday 12th April. All online orders will be posted when we return to the office on 12 April.

Baskets of the Month

Our reed baskets are a fun family of 3 baskets. Small, medium and large basket, all sold individually. The baskets are woven out of naturally occurring reed to make a more rigid style of basket. Festive December

Wow what a difference a day makes – after sweltering through some unbelievable temperatures over the weekend I am finally getting some time at my computer to take stock and prepare for December!!

Since the baskets have arrived we have been inundated with orders and we are doing very best to get all wholesale and online orders out as fast as we can.  For December we will be sending all the online basket orders express to make sure they arrive in time.

For the month of December we will be at the Carriageworks  Farmers Market every Saturday –   5th, 12th and 19th December for plenty of basket cheer!   (Please note we won’t be there for the Christmas market)

The last regular Le Marche will be the 13th December.  At Club Willoughby from 8am to 1pm. We will have baskets,  table linen and our great pates and foie gras – everything for the festive season.

 

We will closing from Wednesday 23rd to 4th January – although our onlines will still be open on days that we can post parcels.

November update

Importing – an exercise in patience!  We are nearly there folks – the baskets have docked in Sydney and we are now only days away from them being delivered.  So happy to know they are in Sydney and not the high seas.

We are just dying to have all our favourites back in stock and see some of the new styles coming.

October

New Stock

Well the trials and tribulations of importing really aren’t for the faint hearted!  After getting super excited about welcoming our new stock in late Sept/early October we were devastated to hear that our shipment is caught up in the current trouble at Port Sydney. So instead of getting it this week we are now waiting until late October. The container is taking a detour to Adelaide and Melbourne before getting to Sydney.  It is so frustrating but as there is nothing we can do I must just get on as best as I can. Breathe.

August update

Wow who can believe that we are almost in August!  We should be down in Melbourne at the August trade fairs and preparing for the coming busy season but this year has had other plans for us.

The best news of the week is that our new shipment will be here by mid September and we will have our full range of baskets back in stock!  It is always so hard when the full collection becomes reduced and so great when we get the new delivery.  I will keep you updated of the shipments progress! Happy dancing!!

In the mean time we still have plenty of baskets available. Check out this month’s basket.  As I write today is the last day of plastic free July but lets keep up the good work and use the baskets and other sustainable products to help reduce our plastic use.

At  2 duck trading co we are a doing our best to be Covid Safe. We offer contactless payment, have hand sanitiser available, will maintain required social distancing  and undertake not to come to the market if we are feeling unwell. Lets all keep safe.

June at 2 duck

 

As our lives gradually come back to normal and we come out of isolation, we continue to have our range of French market baskets and lovely table linens to be available online and by appointment at  frenchclass in Glenmore Road Paddington until late June.   Just call 0404259986 to make an appointment. We are here onsite so it is easy to meet you should you require a basket or St James teeshirt.

Winter is upon us  and while we don’t always think of market baskets in the cooler weather we can use them every day for some many different things. For those lucky enough to have a fire place many of the baskets can be perfect for your kindling or logs.  Otherwise they make lovely everyday hand bag like our beautiful round basket of the month below.

One for the calendar!

In July Sydney would normally be busy, with plenty of events, for the celebration  French national day – 14th July!   The Bastille Market Australia  at Club Willoughby is still planning to go ahead on Sunday 12 July.  They are planning a full celebration of everything French – food, shopping, wine  and more.   If public gatherings are unable to proceed at this time, they have back up date in September if the market can’t take place.
