August update

Return to Sydney

Our wonderful sojourn in France is coming to an end (can’t believe I am writing this) and we are preparing to close up our lovely wee house and return to Sydney!!  We have visited so much, been visited – 16 visitors during the time, cooked, eaten, drank, and enjoyed the delights of our corner of Drome. Everyday using a fantastic 2 duck basket as we went to the market and shops.

It will be devastating to leave but also wonderful to be home too.

Due to family commitments here in France we are not doing the Life Instyle trade fair this year., however we are ready to take your wholesale orders when they come.

We are coming back with a variety of markets and events when we get back,  see all the info below.

 

Baskets of the Month

Markets

 

  Carriageworks Farmer Markets –  find us in August on Saturdays  5th and 19th.  Carriageworks Farmers market  is open every Saturday from 8am to  1pm.Cambridge markets EQ  We are back to the markets late August – Saturday 26th. We will have our full range of baskets, St James tops, linens and more. The market is from 8am to 2pm.

 

Le Marche – Willoughby  It will be so great to be back at the best little French market on the North Shore. Come to see us in August on Sunday – 13th and then on 27th, we will have all our favourite baskets, St James tops and great table linens and few of our French vintage linens finds from our time in France.

Events coming up

Back to Newington fair – Saturday 12th August, at Newington School. 8am to 4pm.

American Tea – Shore School, Friday 8th September  8am to 2pm, find us on the Chapel lawn.

December news.

 

Well I won’t pretend it has been an easy start to December  – didn’t plan on getting Covid to slow us down. It was such a disappointment to miss a few markets especially Wahroonga Xmas fair.  However we are on the road to recovery and will be back at the markets this coming weekend. There is still plenty of times to catch up with us until Xmas and the holiday season. For all our events and markets see the info below.

We will be posting baskets online right through the holiday season too.  If the Post office is open then, we will post.

Wholesales

For those who haven’t ordered it is not too late to do so.  We are packing orders most days and do our best to get them out as quickly as we can. Markets

 

  Carriageworks Farmer Markets –  We are at Carriageworks on Saturday 17th December from 8am til 1 pm. As well as back  for the annual Xmas twilight market on Wednesday 21st  December.

We are attending Cambridge market EQ every Saturday til Xmas.  Find us there for baskets, St James tops, great saucisson, French linens, French gourmet treats,  hats and more.   Saturday from 8am to to 2pm.

Our last market will be Xmas Eve.  Then we taking a short break.

For the folks in the city Quays Quarter Lane Market  Custom House Quay,  will be back in December,  we will also be attending the 2nd market  on 14th December from 8am to 2pm.

Le Marche – Willoughby  This is another big month for Le Marche. We will in Willoughby for the Sunday 11th December market and for the Xmas Twilight market on the 22nd December.

August

Gosh time is racing by and we are in August already.  We are just back from the brilliant trade fair –  Life InStyle Melbourne and are eagerly awaiting our next shipment so we can send out all our lovely baskets. It was a real joy to reconnect with many of our long term clients and a bonus to meet many new ones. With so much uncertain news and talk in the retail world it was great to be seeing our supportive clients again and be doing face to face orders. We feel strongly that our baskets are an essential part of every day living and it was lovely to see this reflected in the comments from our stockists.

 Kids baskets are a great way of getting children into basket life. It is so cute for kids to have their own baskets and mini me with their parents.  These small woven baskets are also handy for storing  food or other items around the house. Markets

 

  Carriageworks Farmer Markets –  From August we will be changing our days at the market and coming to Carriageworks every 1st and 3rd Saturday.  So find us both the 6th and 20th of this month for baskets.

We are attending Cambridge market EQ every Saturday in August – so find us there for baskets, St James tops, great saucisson, French linens, hats and more. We have started receiving long awaited St James tee shirt stock (finally) including some great ones for kids  in both white and blue stripes or white and red stripes.

 

Le Marche – Willoughby  this month we will be at Le Marche Sunday 14th and 28th August. For baskets, St James tops, and French linens and French fun.

Marching along!

March is almost upon us! Our most unusual summer is drawing to a close and we are heading into  Autumn and harvest times.  Our basket of the month is perfect for those great trips to the market.

We have a few special events coming up in March and then look forward to heading to Burrawang for the famous Easter market in April. What a joy it will be to be back at that great event.

Baskets of the Month

 This is the most enduring classic style in our range. The short handle leather trim basket! Seen all the markets in France. This is a perfect market shopper. Wholesales

We have almost finalised our new collection for Spring/ Summer 22 and we expect to have new container of baskets mid year. Markets

 We are at Carriageworks Farmer markets every  2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.  For March this will be Saturdays 12th and 26th. The farmers market is on from 8am to 1pm every Saturday. Watch out for a few specials each Saturday as we clear our imperfect stock.

Le Marche – Willoughby is on  every 2nd and 4th Sunday at Laurelbank House in Willoughby.  For the month of  March – 13th and 27th. Come and see us for  all our French treats, baskets and our great collection of St James stripy tops. With the Autumnal weather come the long sleeve Minquier modern tops are perfect.

A Day of Beautiful Things

2 duck trading will be joining A Day of Beautiful Things on:

Thursday 3rd March in Rose Bay at the Easts Rugby Club Rooms O’Sullivan Road from 10.00 – 4pm

Thursday 10th March in Lane Cove at Lane Cove Golf Club, 180 River Road. from 10.00 – 4pm.

This is a special shopping day with a mix of:

CAPES, PASHMINA SHAWLS, Cashmere gowns, STYLISH HANDBAGS, ONE OF A KIND JEWELLERY,  CREATIVE HOMEWARES, IRONING BOARD COVERS, FRENCH MARKET BASKETS & TABLE LINENS and raffia hats.

Up and coming:

Sadly canceled due to the  weather conditions damaging the parking facilities and roads in the village.
Burrawang Easter Fair Saturday 16th April, Burrawang Village.   Fingers crossed for 2023.

December!

We welcome December, the cherry season and so much that is festive in our lives!   It is a true joy that we have got to this time of the year and we are have been so busy with markets, onlines and wholesales.

There  are still many great events and shopping opportunities to be had in December this year for your festive shopping.  Also from today until December 13th – all baskets ordered online will be sent EXPRESS to make sure they make it in time.

Baskets of the Month

July means Bastille market

Update Update

Sadly the Bastille market at Club Willoughby has been postponed until 20th September. Due to the heighten issues in organising events at present a last minute decision was made to reschedule. Keeping everyone safe is our main priority!!

 

Well it is already July and that can only mean one thing – the annual Bastille celebrations. This year, as with everything,  all the festivals are quite curtailed. So we are very lucky to have the Bastille Market at Club Willoughby on the 12 July.  It’s going to be a full day of food, shopping, wine and more celebrating all things French. Situated in the car park of the Club Willoughby, Crabbes Ave.  It will be an outdoor market with lots of space for everyone to enjoy safely. Can’t wait to see you all there.

Remember not only do we have the fantastic baskets perfect for any French celebration but we have a great range of the St James stripy Breton tops. Just to get into the look!

Plastic free July

Now an annual event, the month of July is an opportunity to really look at our plastic use and our personnel commitment to reducing plastic and our carbon foot print. At 2 duck we do feel that  the use of a basket is a perfect way to start reducing plastic usage. We are just back from the market and just loaded all our veggies in without additional plastic. Carriageworks is still working through the issues for the whole site however they are hopeful that the Carriageworks Farmers market will be back very soon. Maybe by early August. Fingers crossed.

Vive la France! It’s July.

 

 

So many events in Sydney to celebrate the National Day of France!  We call it Bastille Day in Australia, but in France it’s the 14th July. What ever it is called we get to celebrate all things French!! Find us at these great events!

Bastille Market Australia

 

First up in the Bastille Market Australia Sunday 7th at Club Willoughby from 9am to 2pm – a real celebration of everything French with excellent food, entertainment, French shopping and much more!

Le French Rose Bay market

For a 2 day celebration of everything French in Rose Bay at the Pannerong Reserve on 13/14 July from 9am to 5pm. Food, entertainment, music, shopping and more..

Bastille Day La Perouse Sydney

Come and celebrate Bastille Day, the French National Day with historical re-enactments, food and drink stalls, live entertainment and fun activities for the whole family being held at the La Perouse Museum and grounds. At La Perouse on 14th July from 9.30-2pm.

May

Wishing every one a very happy first of May! A day to wish happiness to all.  The tradition is to bring a lovely little bouquet to your nearest and dearest. It’s one of our favourite French traditions.

We are also getting ready to celebrate Mother’s Day and the place of Mothers in our lives. Whilst our great baskets are not the only for woman, they do make up the largest part of our client base. A basket is just the most perfect accessory in every womens life. From our classic baskets, round and rectangle baskets  to the blings we have got you covered.

 We attend Carriageworks market the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. Bringing baskets and full range of sustainable bags to the market. In May it is  Saturdays 11th and 25th, from 8am to 1pm.

 For May we will be at Northside on Saturday 18th from 8am to 12 midday.

 

 Join us at Taren Point school  Sunday 5th May to celebrate all things French with their now annual French school market. Food, wine, shopping, cheese, bread and so much more to share. from 9am to 3pm. This is a school fundraising event so come and enjoy.

April and Autumn

We have a busy month ahead with many of our favourite weekly and annual markets. The highlight is the annual Burrawang Easter market which is alway a fantastic day for 2 duck trading. Burrawang is such a picturesque little village in the Southern highlands and we enjoy the fun of fair.

It has been so great getting all the baskets out to everybody who so patiently waited!!
