April news

With April, Easter is upon us and we do have some fun markets over the Easter weekend.  We are so delighted to be back at the Burrawang Easter Fair in the historic village in the Southern Highlands. We have missed three of these wonderful events due to Covid and the wild weather over the last few years so we are thrilled to back this Easter. For the info see below in this post. We also have the fabulous Le Marche Willoughby on Sunday which will be a real cracker for Easter.

We are counting down our markets until we head to France in late April.  See our list below.

Our online shop will be open while we are away in France and we will  be posting orders on a weekly basis  (or more depending on the volumes of orders).

Remember Mother’s Day is coming up too,  so order your baskets soon to have the best present ready for Maman.

We return from our adventures in France and to the markets in early August. No doubt with plenty of tales to tell.  We are so looking forward to being back in our house and reconnecting with  our village.   Most of all we can wait to see our son in Uk and spending time with with our French and Italian families. With the arrival of cooler weather, everyone turns to more cooking and the necessary shopping for fabulous home prepared meals. Wow it’s nearly November!

Incredible, it is nearly November where has this year gone???

We are in the last few days of October so first thing to say is Happy Birthday to us at 2 duck trading co – we are 15 years old!! It was a quite a life changing moment when we took over 2 duck trading co from Chris and Tessa back in 2007 fitting in perfectly with our French inspired ethos and it has lead to amazing adventures to France and Morocco plus a wonderful time building our wee business here in Sydney. We have meet so many people, made life long friends and feel just as passionate about our wonderful market baskets as we did at the beginning.

Since the arrival of the baskets (thank goodness) we are been furiously getting out wholesale orders to all our lovely patient customers.  For those who haven’t ordered it is not too late to do so. Baskets of the Month

What to choose for our basket of the month – it is just so brilliant to have them all back in stock.  In the end I just can’t go past our wonderful classic double handle baskets.  This is such a staple of our markets. The short and long handles makes this basket so versatile for every day use. We have missed them while we waited for the new order to arrive and they are selling like hotcakes! Markets

 

  Carriageworks Farmer Markets –  We are at Carriageworks every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.  For November this is the 5th and 19th November. From 8am til 1 pm.

We are attending Cambridge market EQ every Saturday til Xmas.  Find us there for baskets, St James tops, great saucisson, French linens, French gourmet treats,  hats and more.   Saturday from 8am to to 2pm.

Cambridge markets  will also be holding the;

Quays Quarter Lane Market  Loftus Lane  and  we will also be attending the inaugural market on 9th November from 8am to 2pm.

Plumer Road Fair in Rose Bay is back on 20 November, Plumer Road from 10 to 4pm. A very small and select little market in the Plumer Road shopping precinct.

 

Le Marche – Willoughby  This is another big month for Le Marche. We have the regular Sunday market on Sunday 13th and 27th November at Laurelbank House in Willoughby,  plus we will have our fantastic Christmas Twilight market on Friday 18th November at the central courtyard of Macquarie Uni Campus. Plenty of space, parking for this great event.

Popped Up at Kimo 

We are back at the Kimo Estate just out from Gundagai,  for this beautiful event – Popped Up at Kimo from 10-3pm. It will be a fantastic collection of beautiful small businesses and artisans showcasing their wares for a great cause. So happy to be going back to this event.

Time to share the love!

 

February the month of lovers and love. We are pretty keen on that at 2 duck, as we love what we do and also like to share the love.  There is never enough baskets right??   You will be able to find us back at the markets in February and also online. We are getting the year off to a great start after a mix of staycationing and some time away.  This year holds a lot of promise including a long awaited trip to our little house in France but before then it is time to get down to business and enjoy the rest of summer.

Wholesales

We have begun the fun process of planning and choosing our new collection for Spring/ Summer 22 and we hope all going well we will have new container of baskets later this year. Markets

We return to  Carriageworks Farmer markets on our usual cycle of  2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.  For February this will be Saturdays 12th and 26th. The market is on from 8am to 1pm every Saturday. Watch out for a few specials each Saturday.

Le Marche – Willoughby  operates every 2nd and 4th Sunday at Laurelbank House in Willoughby. Come and see us for  all our French treats, baskets and our great collection of St James stripy tops.

December!

We welcome December, the cherry season and so much that is festive in our lives!   It is a true joy that we have got to this time of the year and we are have been so busy with markets, onlines and wholesales.

There  are still many great events and shopping opportunities to be had in December this year for your festive shopping.  Also from today until December 13th – all baskets ordered online will be sent EXPRESS to make sure they make it in time.

Baskets of the Month

Our adorable open weave baskets are just so fun and make the best little hamper baskets.  Available in three sizes – you can see them over on our shop page.  Hand woven from the fibre from large palm trees near the desert in Marrakech,  these baskets are in the beautiful blond coloured palm leaf.  They have a short real leather handle, stand well for use around the house or great as a basket filled with seasonal gifts. August update

Wow who can believe that we are almost in August!  We should be down in Melbourne at the August trade fairs and preparing for the coming busy season but this year has had other plans for us.

The best news of the week is that our new shipment will be here by mid September and we will have our full range of baskets back in stock!  It is always so hard when the full collection becomes reduced and so great when we get the new delivery.  I will keep you updated of the shipments progress! Happy dancing!!

In the mean time we still have plenty of baskets available. Check out this month’s basket.  As I write today is the last day of plastic free July but lets keep up the good work and use the baskets and other sustainable products to help reduce our plastic use.

The rustic weave oval baskets are lovely. Also brilliant to say that Carriageworks Farmers market is restarting on the 8th August. We will be there for the reopening market.  8am to 1pm. We are planning a warehouse sale for the reopening. Yippee. We will also be there Saturday 22nd August too.

At  2 duck trading co we are a doing our best to be Covid Safe. We offer contactless payment, have hand sanitiser available, will maintain required social distancing  and undertake not to come to the market if we are feeling unwell. Lets all keep safe.

June at 2 duck

 

As our lives gradually come back to normal and we come out of isolation, we continue to have our range of French market baskets and lovely table linens to be available online and by appointment at  frenchclass in Glenmore Road Paddington until late June.   Just call 0404259986 to make an appointment. We are here onsite so it is easy to meet you should you require a basket or St James teeshirt.

Winter is upon us  and while we don’t always think of market baskets in the cooler weather we can use them every day for some many different things. For those lucky enough to have a fire place many of the baskets can be perfect for your kindling or logs.  Otherwise they make lovely everyday hand bag like our beautiful round basket of the month below.

This round basket really brings back our visits to Morocco and scouring the Medina looking at all the wares. We can’t wait to get back to Morocco but toting the round basket gives us that holiday feeling. It has a short handle  and plenty of space to pop your shopping.

Update on the markets:The markets have started back up at Cambridge market EQ Moore Park –  on Wednesday and Saturday. One for the calendar!

In July Sydney would normally be busy, with plenty of events, for the celebration  French national day – 14th July!   The Bastille Market Australia  at Club Willoughby is still planning to go ahead on Sunday 12 July.  They are planning a full celebration of everything French – food, shopping, wine  and more.   If public gatherings are unable to proceed at this time, they have back up date in September if the market can’t take place. Count down to the festive season!

Wow now it’s November – we have been to France and are now into the busy season! We have some many markets coming up – some with a French flavour or just good old fashioned local community events. Springs feel more like summer and this means lots of great trips to beaches, parks and pool are just around the corner. Perfect time for a new basket!

Wishing every one a very happy first of May! A day to wish happiness to all.  The tradition is to bring a lovely little bouquet to your nearest and dearest. It’s one of our favourite French traditions.

We are also getting ready to celebrate Mother’s Day and the place of Mothers in our lives. Whilst our great baskets are not the only for woman, they do make up the largest part of our client base. A basket is just the most perfect accessory in every womens life. From our classic baskets, round and rectangle baskets  to the blings we have got you covered.

Cambridge market is putting on a super special Mother’s Day event which we are delighted to be part of – there will Golden ticket giveaways and lots of  extra fun.

 

 We attend Carriageworks market the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. Bringing baskets and full range of sustainable bags to the market. In May it is  Saturdays 11th and 25th, from 8am to 1pm.

 For May we will be at Northside on Saturday 18th from 8am to 12 midday.

 

 Join us at Taren Point school  Sunday 5th May to celebrate all things French with their now annual French school market. Food, wine, shopping, cheese, bread and so much more to share. from 9am to 3pm. This is a school fundraising event so come and enjoy.

Tis the season to be jolly!

December is almost upon us, there are plenty of Christmas and festive markets and events ahead. We are having our 2 duck pop up shop from 21st December. Our best Christmas present this year will be the arrival of our baskets towards the end of December – a bit late but at least they are on their way. We can’t wait to have all our favourite back in stock plus some new ones!

 

 

Basket of the Month

Markets and Event for December

 Cambridge Market EQ are on every Wednesday and Saturday til 22nd December. Every day 8am to 2pm.

The Super duper Christmas market is the 15th December and will be trading exceptionally from 8am to 5pm. With lots of extra stalls and an additional Christmassy vibe it is one for the diary. We have plenty of essential French Christmas products  coming in – great foie gras, saucisson, pates, duck confit and more. If you need any special products for the festive season please let us know and we can do our best to order them in.

 

  We are at the Carriageworks Farmers market  for the 8th and 22nd December. From 8am to 1pm. The 22nd Dec is the all out Christmas market and 2 duck will be in a different position than normal, in the central section but we will be there!!  With lots of baskets and some of our our great linens and additional stocking stuffers.

 Find us at the Northside Produce market Saturday 15th December from 8am to midday. With baskets, great table linens and more everything for the Christmas preparation.

 

   Wahroonga Street Festival – Sunday 2nd December 9-4pm.  One of our favourite annual fairs we will have loads of baskets, table lines, St James Tee shirts, and Raffia hats. See you there.

 

  Christmas Fare @ Hyde Park Barracks  Thursday 13th December  from 4-9pm. For a central city food orientated Christmas fare, pop up bar and great food.

 

 2 duck Pop up Shop – once we are popping up at frenchclass in Paddington from Friday 21st December to Monday 24th December. From 10.30-5.30 each day.
