March Autumn update

Here is our March update.  Autumn has arrived and this year is well underway!!

At this stage most of the major events that we would normally do, are not proceeding. Sadly for us there is no Burrawang market on Easter Saturday this year. Luckily our weekly markets continue to be going very well as shopper embrace the markets again.  We really hope that we see you at one of the markets some time soon.

Basket of the Month

The pompom baskets are just the fun and bright tote that we need as we get ready to say good by to summer. We can be found at  Cambridge markets EQ every  Wednesday and Saturday in March.  Each market day from 8am to 2pm.

 

We are at the Carriageworks Farmers market on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month – this is 13th and 27th March. Each Saturday at the Carriageworks Precinct  from 8am to 1pm.

 

Also find us at Le Marche Club Willoughby  on Sunday’s  14th and 28th March from 8am to 1pm in Crabbes Ave Willoughby.

2021 here we come!

Wishing everyone a sparkly New Year and and as much happiness and good health as possible. We are gently getting back into the year, keeping the online and wholesale clients stocked!   We are still happily supply our many wholesale clients and delighted that many of you already need a top up!

After the super busy month of December we start back at the markets in February.  We will be away from the office from the 15th Jan to 1st Feb planning a small road trip up the coast. Loaded with plenty of baskets for the beach. All online baskets sales will be posted after 1st February.

October

New Stock

Well the trials and tribulations of importing really aren’t for the faint hearted!  After getting super excited about welcoming our new stock in late Sept/early October we were devastated to hear that our shipment is caught up in the current trouble at Port Sydney. So instead of getting it this week we are now waiting until late October. The container is taking a detour to Adelaide and Melbourne before getting to Sydney.  It is so frustrating but as there is nothing we can do I must just get on as best as I can. Breathe.

September heralds Spring!

We love Spring at 2 duck,  it is perfect for baskets and the promise of warm weather,  picnics, and all the things that baskets are meant for.

These days the outdoors is extra special. It is lovely to be out and about after being cooped up more than normal due to Covid 19.

New Shipment

It is with great pleasure that I can announce that by early October, we will have our full range of baskets back in stock.  We really miss our classic baskets when they sell out. Due to the strangeness of the year we have concentrated our order on the very popular and classic styles. There will be plenty of our wonderful double handled baskets and the classic baskets with and without leather trim. We also welcome back our trim basket with the leather buckle too.  Always a popular style.

We are thrilled to have an excellent stock of the fabulous baskets with the cherries too.

At this stage the shipment is due around the 6th October  so we should have it through customs and quarantine with in a week.  As soon as we are certain of the date we will update the website and let the shopping commence.

So until they arrive, it is business as usual for us and markets on Saturday!

Basket of the Month

Our single strap basket is beautiful size, at just a little smaller than our classic medium styles.  They are great for carrying shopping for just one or two people.  Coming with long leather strap handles, it swings easily over the shoulder as you head to the beach, the market or a picnic. Le Marche Willoughby is a new produce market starting Sunday 13th September. It has a special accent on all things French plus plenty of local produce.  It will run the 2nd and 4th Saturday every month. Located in the carpark at  Club Willoughby – Crabbes Ave,  from 8am to 1pm.

August update

Wow who can believe that we are almost in August!  We should be down in Melbourne at the August trade fairs and preparing for the coming busy season but this year has had other plans for us.

The best news of the week is that our new shipment will be here by mid September and we will have our full range of baskets back in stock!  It is always so hard when the full collection becomes reduced and so great when we get the new delivery.  I will keep you updated of the shipments progress! Also brilliant to say that Carriageworks Farmers market is restarting on the 8th August. We will be there for the reopening market.  8am to 1pm. We are planning a warehouse sale for the reopening. Yippee. We will also be there Saturday 22nd August too.

At  2 duck trading co we are a doing our best to be Covid Safe. We offer contactless payment, have hand sanitiser available, will maintain required social distancing  and undertake not to come to the market if we are feeling unwell. Lets all keep safe.

July means Bastille market

Update Update

Sadly the Bastille market at Club Willoughby has been postponed until 20th September. Due to the heighten issues in organising events at present a last minute decision was made to reschedule. Keeping everyone safe is our main priority!!

 

Well it is already July and that can only mean one thing – the annual Bastille celebrations. This year, as with everything,  all the festivals are quite curtailed. So we are very lucky to have the Bastille Market at Club Willoughby on the 12 July.  It’s going to be a full day of food, shopping, wine and more celebrating all things French. Situated in the car park of the Club Willoughby, Crabbes Ave.  It will be an outdoor market with lots of space for everyone to enjoy safely. Can’t wait to see you all there.

Remember not only do we have the fantastic baskets perfect for any French celebration but we have a great range of the St James stripy Breton tops. Just to get into the look!

Plastic free July

Now an annual event, the month of July is an opportunity to really look at our plastic use and our personnel commitment to reducing plastic and our carbon foot print. At 2 duck we do feel that  the use of a basket is a perfect way to start reducing plastic usage. We are just back from the market and just loaded all our veggies in without additional plastic. Carriageworks is still working through the issues for the whole site however they are hopeful that the Carriageworks Farmers market will be back very soon. Maybe by early August. Fingers crossed.

June at 2 duck

 

As our lives gradually come back to normal and we come out of isolation, we continue to have our range of French market baskets and lovely table linens to be available online and by appointment at  frenchclass in Glenmore Road Paddington until late June.   Just call 0404259986 to make an appointment. We are here onsite so it is easy to meet you should you require a basket or St James teeshirt.

Winter is upon us  and while we don’t always think of market baskets in the cooler weather we can use them every day for some many different things. For those lucky enough to have a fire place many of the baskets can be perfect for your kindling or logs.  Otherwise they make lovely everyday hand bag like our beautiful round basket of the month below.

One for the calendar!

In July Sydney would normally be busy, with plenty of events, for the celebration  French national day – 14th July!   The Bastille Market Australia  at Club Willoughby is still planning to go ahead on Sunday 12 July.  They are planning a full celebration of everything French – food, shopping, wine  and more.   If public gatherings are unable to proceed at this time, they have back up date in September if the market can’t take place. May days & Pop Up shop

Hi all

How are you going with the lockdown times?

The 1st of May is one of my favourite French traditions Fete des Muguets. Everywhere we go in France we find people selling bunch of “lily of the valley”. Perfect with a basket.  I know I have posted this photo before but it is my favourite and we need favourites at this time. They bring good luck!!

As social distancing restriction are in place there are still no reputable markets operating at the moment. More news coming.

Express Post offer: With Mothers day fast approaching I am upgrading all my online orders to express post. Things have been pretty haywire with the post in these past few weeks so if you need an urgent gift we will do our best!

This is truely the perfect time for a French market basket. It can be a harvest basket,  a shopping basket for all the wonderful produce, a going to the market basket or collecting flowers basket.
